Energy and Caffeinated Beverages: GST Council hikes caffeinated drinks rates
The GST Council, chaired by Union finance minister, in its recent meeting, has decided that the tax rates on energy and caffeinated beverages shall be hiked to 28% with an additional cess of 12% as against the current rate of 18%. The effective tax on these drinks would be 40% with this decision.
